Casanovas Heimfahrt The story centers around 53 year old Casanova who seeks to return to his hometown of Venice, from which was exiled. He sets out for Venice with high hopes and spirits but is soon disappointed. During his trek back the place of his origin he makes friends with the husband of his former lover, Olivio. Olivio had been the source of financial assistance and he invites Casanova to live at his villa. There Olivio reencounters his ex-lover, Marco Lina. He starts to have his old feelings of passion for Marco ignites within him and is facing a dilemma with his situation. A card game happens and Casanova loses badly and develops a huge debt. The resulting scene is revealed and Casanova ends up in Marcos bed once again. The result is devastating and ends up in a challenge to duel with a police lieutenant named Lorenzi.
The story was originally published in German and is a very intriguing and insightful story. Eventually Casanova ends up back on the path home but the events that he encounters along the way are well conveyed and dictated by the author. It is a story with strong sub plots and memorable characters. The author does a great job of tying storylines together without making the book confusing.
