  • Dickensian, but with hope

    I stumbled upon the first Captain Lacey book because it was free. I honestly expected it to be a glorified romance novel with a murder. I was so taken in by the depths of the characters, the detail (both historically and in the flowing narrative), that I willingly purchased the second. By then, I was hooked. I love the way each novel twists and turns. I love how each character, major or minor, seems to be fleshed out completely, and apart from minor grammatical/editing problems, I found no jarring mistakes in character or logic (something worthy of J.K. Rowlings). I am now a devoted fan, and dread having to wait until 2015 for my next Captain Lacey fix (also a source of contention I had with Ms. Rowlings). Please, hurry with the next one(s)!
