Ajahn Pasanno & Ajahn Amaro This presentation by Ajahn Pasanno and Ajahn Amaro is a small compendium of the 'essence teachings' of the Buddha, as they appear in the Pali Canon and have been conveyed by the lineages that rely upon them (the Thai forest tradition in particular).
Ajahn Pasanno The word “becoming ” is an innocuous little term. It doesn’t really evoke much of an image or much feeling. But the reality is that it is because of the nature of becoming that we continually experience suffering. It is why we continually experience conflict. It is why we are continually dissatisfied. Becoming is why we continually opt to be scattered, confused and stupid rather than peaceful and wise.
Ajahn Pasanno This past year I have had the good fortune to be on solitary retreat in Thailand. Once a month I have led meditation and taught at Bahn Boon, which is close to where I have been living. The laypeople there have expressed their wish to print a booklet of teachings as a gesture of their appreciation. The talks are from the beginning of a collection of teachings which are being compiled at Abhayagiri by several laypeople there.
